What makes us so special? We have taken inspiration from ‘The Curiosity Approach’, “Te Whāriki” and ‘The Reggio Emilia Approach’. We use authentic resources and natural resources within EYFS where possible. Children’s self-esteem blossoms & flourishes as children are trusted to handle the 'real' items, not to mention the positive impact on the environment in our ‘throwaway society’. Open ended resources create a sense of ‘awe and wonder’ and provide a much richer learning experience for all children. We view our EYFS as a place of ‘hygge’. Hygge is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, ordinary or extraordinary as cosy, charming or special. Hygge is a feeling you cannot translate. It’s about a space that promotes emotional well-being, togetherness and friendship. It is a place where children feel comfortable to explore, learn or to simply begin to figure out who they are as a tiny human in this great, big world! |
Important dates/information
All important information and dates are shared on our parent communication - WEDUC. You will also find termly newsletters here. Please speak to the school office if you do not have access to this app. |
Reading
Children are given a variety of texts which begin with picture books to start the conversation between parent and child, promoting a love for reading. We move our children on to simple texts which enables them to develop their knowledge of phonics, helping them to prepare for life as a Reception child.
